Pediatric Cardiology offers consultation for evaluation and management of children with disorders of the cardiovascular system. This includes evaluation of infants and children with heart murmurs, palpitations, chest pain, syncope, cyanosis and cardiac dysrhythmias, among other conditions.
A full-time pediatric cardiologist at Children’s Hospital works closely with patients and their families to develop individualized treatment plans. Depending on the severity of the condition, children may be referred to regional health care institutions for specialized care.
Services include:
- Echocardiography
- Electrocardiography
- Inpatient and outpatient Holter monitoring
Cardiology services are provided by consultation with Alicia Chaves, M.D., and other physicians from the Children's Heart Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
