Pediatric Inpatient Services
The Herman and Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital inpatient unit provides a full range of medical and surgical care for infants, children and adolescents. Here the patient and family are the true focus of medical and nursing care.
Our bright, cheerful space provides single-bed rooms for our inpatients. These large, ergonomic rooms include a full bathroom and child-friendly shower, and provide plenty of space for the patient’s family members and care team. Each room is also equipped with a video game system, 42-inch flat-screen television, sleeper sofa for parents, and a small table for paperwork, homework or playing games. Patient care computers are also located in each room for staff documentation. Play groups and other support services are arranged by our full-time child-life specialists to help patients and their families make the psychological and emotional adjustment to hospitalization. Our family centered approach to care is designed to meet the needs of our patients and foster partnerships between families and health care professionals.
The Division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine offers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic hospital based medical services for patients from 0-21 years of age. Our board certified/eligible hospitalist team works with subspecialty physicians, resident physicians, pediatric nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, dieticians, social workers, care managers and child life specialists to give your child the highest level of care in a family centered approach.
