The LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine Institute
The LifeBridge Health
Sports Medicine Institute is a game-changer for athletes both on and off the field. Led by Craig Bennett, M.D., a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports
medicine, Erica Gaertner, M.D., a board-certified internal medicine doctor with fellowship training in pediatric and
adult sports medicine, and Andrew Guidry, M.D., a expert on concussions and traumatic brain injury, the program takes a
team approach, working with specialists across the continuum of care. Our unique program combines the best
neurologic and orthopedic care for athletes at all levels of their sport.
Another asset to the Sports Medicine Institute is the team at the LifeBridge Sports Cardiology Center. The team at the
LifeBridge Sports Cardiology Center—led by Sunal
S. Makadia, M.D., FACC, a board-certified, noninvasive cardiologist—treats athletes of all abilities (ages
17 and older) and people in highly active occupations for known or previously undiagnosed cardiovascular
conditions.
We believe that caring for athletes starts before their injury, and continues on well after. Our multidisciplinary
team of providers help athletes avoid injuries, such as ACL tears and concussions, with proper technique,
sport-specific strength analyses, and speed and strength training assistance as needed. If injuries occur, we work
with your team’s athletic trainers and coaches to provide a personalized plan of care from diagnosis to return to
play and beyond.
The Sports Medicine Institute will take care of YOU by offering an advanced neurologist-led concussion program, expert
orthopedics, primary care, physical therapy, sport-specific athletic training and much more.
Our Mission
