Who should get a mammogram?
If you are a woman age 40 to 49 ask your doctor about when to start and how often you should get a mammogram. If you are between the ages of 50 and 74, you should get a mammogram every 2 years.

Do I need an appointment?
To make an appointment fill out the form under the LBH Mammothon Registration tab, or call 410-601-WELL.

Do I need an order or referral from my physician?
Our Mt. Airy location requires a referral for patients. Patients do not need a referral or order for all other LifeBridge Health Breast Care Centers.

What if I don’t have a physician to provide a referral?
Call 410-601-WELL and a customer service representative will help you locate a physician for a referral.

Does it matter if this is not my usual screening location?
No. Choose the LifeBridge Health location that is most convenient for you.

Will my insurance be accepted?
LifeBridge Health participates in a wide range of health plans and accepts most major insurances. When making an appointment, a representative will verify that your plan is accepted. If you do not have insurance please visit https://www.freemammograms.org/ for more information.

Do I need to do anything special to prepare for a mammogram?
You do not need to do anything special to prepare for a mammogram. However, avoid using deodorants, antiperspirants, powders, lotions, creams or perfumes under your arms or on your breasts. Metallic particles in powders and deodorants could be visible on your mammogram and cause confusion.

What if I have received a diagnosis and want a second opinion?
The Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center at Northwest Hospital and the Center for Breast Health at Carroll Hospital have radiologists who specialize in breast imaging for more accurate reading as well as the most advanced technologies in the Baltimore area for the evaluation of breast disease.
