Levindale’s Acute Rehab

Levindale offers a CARF and TJC accredited Rehabilitation unit devoted to both acute and medical levels of rehabilitation. Two specialty programs offered at Levindale: Stroke Program and Brain Injury Program

Rehabilitation at the Specialty Hospital at Levindale is life changing. Comprehensive treatment is provided to patients with catastrophic injuries and lengthy illnesses or to those who need post-surgical care. Medical personnel work closely with licensed therapists to create individualized treatment programs for each patient.

Inpatient Rehab Staff

The rehabilitation team is an interdisciplinary group of physicians, nurses, therapists and other health care professionals and may include:

  • Case managers
  • Internists
  • Nurses
  • Nutritionist
  • Occupational therapists
  • Pharmacists
  • Physiatrists
  • Physical therapists
  • Psychologists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Social workers
  • Speech language pathologists
  • Therapeutic recreation therapists

The plan of care is tailored for each individual. A physiatrist (rehabilitation physician) provides oversight and works closely with the medical doctor, therapy staff and nursing staff to help patients achieve their goals. Patients receive:

  • Therapy services, available during the week and on weekends
  • Coordinated care by a comprehensive, interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, therapeutic recreation, respiratory therapy, social work, dietary assistance and medicine management
  • Community reintegration sessions and home assessments to ensure a safe transition to the home environment
  • All participants must be financially eligible and 18 years or older
Admission Requirements for Acute Rehab Program
  • The ability to participate in 3 hours of therapy per day
  • The prognosis of functional improvement
  • Needing minimum of two disciplines (therapies)
  • Must be at least 18 years or older

Medical Rehab
  • Receive at least 1 discipline of therapy
  • Progressing towards functional goals
