The Teaching Hospital

Sinai, with a mission that includes the teaching of future generations of health professionals, shares many of the characteristics of a university-owned hospital. Its own distinguished full-time faculty, many of whom are nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields, hold teaching positions at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Several thousand applications are received every year for graduate medical training positions available at Sinai Hospital. Total residents and fellows based at Sinai are 145.

Approximately 400 medical students from across the nation and world receive clinical training each year at Sinai. It is a training site for Johns Hopkins University medical students during their mandatory ambulatory and third-year internal medicine clerkships.

Sinai Price List

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires all hospitals make available pricing information related to hospitals services through its internet website. The file posted here, commonly referred to as the “chargemaster," reflects charges for items and services provided by Sinai Hospital. In Maryland, the rates charged by hospitals are established and regulated by the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC), a state regulatory agency. The hospital charges do not include charges for physician services, which are separate from the hospital bill.

Charges on individual hospital bills may be different from those posted here, as the HSCRC allows for a defined level of fluctuation to occur throughout the course of a year. Sinai Hospital will post its chargemaster two times a year in coordination with the approval of hospital rates by the Maryland HSCRC.
