Sinai Hospital Pharmacy Residency
Sinai Hospital provides an ASHP-accredited Post-Graduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency program. Residents pursuing a PGY1 pharmacy residency are provided the opportunity to further enhance their clinical skills beyond their professional pharmacy degree program. The 12-month residency program enhances general competencies in managing medication-use systems and supports optimal pharmacotherapy for patients in various care settings and with a broad range of disease states.
The goal of the residency program is to create independent pharmacy practitioners who have the skills necessary to practice pharmacy in a variety of practice settings. Residents work towards this goal through the following set of skill developments:
- Gain the skills and abilities necessary to independently and competently optimize pharmacotherapy outcomes in various settings.
- Develop critical thinking and effective communication skills.
- Provide optimal pharmacotherapy and improve patient safety as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Instill confidence and improve leadership skills by expanding knowledge base and through education of other health-care professionals and patients.
- Promote professional development through continued education and self-evaluation.
Lisa Polinsky, Director of Pharmacy Services for LifeBridge Health, shares information about the department, including its cutting edge use of technology, promise of safe medication, caring environment, and focus on education.
