Adult Volunteer Link:

Sinai Hospital has an active adult volunteer program for those individuals looking to give their time to the hospital

Who qualifies?

  • Adult volunteers are expected to come in for 4 hour shifts on the same time and day each week.
  • Sinai Hospital asks for a 1 year commitment from our adult volunteers
  • Hospital volunteering follows strict guidelines and there are many steps to the volunteer application and onboarding process. An application, two interviews, background check, health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to volunteer at Sinai Hospital.

Application Process:

  • This program runs year round, so the application process is rolling throughout the year.

High School Volunteer Link:

Sinai Hospital has had an active High School Volunteer Program for many years. The program is divided into two different programs:
            1 – Summer High School Volunteer Program
            2 – School Year Internship

Summer High School Volunteer Program

Who is eligible to apply?

  • High School Students are 15 by July 1st and have completed the 10th grade

Program Requirements

  • High School student volunteers are expected to volunteer for a total of 80 hours for the summer.

  • Students participating in this program are expected to volunteer at minimum 2 days a week for 5 hour shifts. Students are required to volunteer  for 8 weeks over the 10 weeks that the program is running.

  • Hospital volunteering follows strict guidelines and there are many steps to the volunteer application and onboarding process. An application, two interviews, health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to volunteer at Sinai Hospital.

  • Students are expected wear their assigned Sinai Hospital polo shirt, with khaki or black pants, closed toe shoes and their volunteer badge. Students are required to sign in and out for each of their volunteer shifts.

Summer 2020 Application Process

  • March 1  - April 30th
  • o Students complete the online application
    o Students schedule and complete interview with Volunteer Manager

  • May 1 – June 1
  • o Students schedule and complete interview with chosen department manager
    o Students turn in results of TB screen and signed Student Agreement Form
    o Students return signed placement sheet to Volunteer Manager
    o Complete assigned online volunteer orientation

  • June 2 – June 24
  • o Students schedule badge appointment prior to their official start date.
    o Students will receive their Sinai Hospital polo, badge, and parking pass if needed.

  • June 25 – August 30
  • o Volunteering Begins!
    o Volunteers must return their badges on their last day!

  • September
  • o Verification of hours letters are sent out to participating volunteers ONLY if they have returned their hospital badge.


School Year Internship

Volunteer opportunities are available for high school students during the school year. Students should contact the Volunteer Services Office for more information. 

Who is eligible to apply?


High School Seniors who are enrolled in their school’s internship program.

College Volunteer Link
Sinai Hospital’s College Student Program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare and who are looking for volunteer hours for experience/exposure in a hospital setting.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Undergraduates
  • College graduates (gap year students)

Expectations:

  • College volunteers are expected to come in to the hospital for a minimum of a 4 hour shift each week
  • College volunteers commit to serve a minimum of 40 hours per semester, for one year.
  • Hospital volunteering follows strict guidelines and there are many steps to the volunteer application and onboarding process. An application, two interviews, background check, health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to volunteer at Sinai Hospital

Shadowing through the Volunteer Services Office

The Volunteer Services office is able to provide orientation and hospital training to those students who are looking to gain experience by shadowing at Sinai Hospital.

Who qualifies for the Volunteer/Shadow Program?

  • This opportunity is offered to those students who are looking for shadowing positions that are not offered through our Medical Education Office (contracted through students school)
  • Students who are perusing education at the undergraduate level or higher.

Expectations:

  • Students are expected to make contact with hospital staff in order to find their own shadow match (Doctor, PA, Nurse etc.)
  • Hospital volunteering follows strict guidelines and there are many steps to the volunteer application and onboarding process. An application health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to shadow through volunteer at Sinai Hospital.
  • Students must complete Volunteer Services application (Graduate and College students must also supply a recent background check, dated within the last 6 months).
